First Equine Veterinary Services Externships

First Equine Veterinary Services provides hands-on learning experiences through our dynamic externship program designed to provide veterinary students with a well-rounded foundation in equine medicine. We are proud to serve as an external teaching site for Mississippi State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine Enhanced Clinical Practicum (ECP) program and welcome externs from other veterinary schools as well.

Students will ride along with our veterinarians–both Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine alums–for both routine and emergency calls, gaining valuable insights and firsthand experience in equine care. Plus, we offer convenient on-site lodging with a cozy apartment attached to the clinic for a seamless stay.
